account of a Russian exploring expedition sent out by the Admiralty to survey the continental Siberian coastline east of the Kolyma River and search for land in the seas north of Chukotka. Wrangell discusses Inuit life and over-ice adventures by dog-sled. These confirmed the existence of open sea at certain times, deep in the Arctic.
