About This Item
New York, NY : Time Reading Program, 1966 Time Reading Program, New York. 1966. Softcover/Trade Wraps. Reprint of the 1952 original. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Near Fine; small edge and tip bumps. No DJ. Heavy pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding. Laid in is a special pagemarker from Time that summarizes the book and tells about the artist who drew the wrap picture, Karl W. Stucklen. 239 pp 8vo. This was Malamud's first novel. The Natural is Roy Hobbs, a hayseed, who appears one day and becomes a national hero and baseball great. His unsophistication causes his downfall as he misunderstands his own nature and cannot understand the fan's wrath when he has a bad moment at the ballpark. A clean very presentable copy.
