Octavo : pp. (6) (iii) iv-vii (viii) 631 (636) : five illustrations as called for : a.e.g. : full leather binding with triple ruled borders in blind and gilt dentelles : five raised bands to the spine and title lettered in gilt : plain e.p.s : presentation inscription on the verso of the f.f.e.p. reads, " A. K. Graham | Prize for | Latin and Greek Grammar |Lower Fourth Form | Sunnymede | Easter 1895".

Joints, raised bands and corners rubbed ; light foxing and creasing to the first six leaves, other wise clean throughout. Charles Waterton (1782-1865) was a pioneering conservationsist, explorer and naturalist. The preface of this edition is dated 1870, making it a posthumous edition. From the natural history library of Louis Pigott, author of The Birdman of Brisbane; Silvester Diggles and his Ornithology of Australia.

Description:
Frederick Warne, 1871. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1871. 631 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with gilt lettering. Edited by Norman Moore. Rough cut pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Hinges and guttering are cracked. Binding is loose. Boards have been heavily rub worn with heavy shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a heavily frayed and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Bleach spotting to boards and spine. Loss to spine cloth. Heavy surface tears all over. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.
