London, U.K.: Richard Bentley, 1866 This Is Volume 2 Only Of The Original Two Volume Set, Published By Richard Bentley In 1866 . It Is In Poor Condition, Primarily Because Several Signatures Have Worn Through So That The Binding Is No Longer Entirely Functional. Rubbed And Mottled Boards Are Dark Green With Gilt Margins And Spine Titles As Well As A Fish In Gilt On The Front Board Which Is No Longer Identifiable. Frontispiece With Tissue Guard And A Few Engravings Throughout. Pages Are Lightly Toned With Some Foxing. This Volume Is 375 Pages Of Which The Last 86 Are Devoted To An Appendix, "A List Of Mammals, Birds, Insects, Reptiles, Fishes, Shells, Annelides, And Diatomaceae, Collected By Myself In British Columbia And Vancouver Island, With Notes On Their Habits." A Few Chapters Are Also Devoted To Describing The First Nations Peoples The Author Encountered. John Keast Lord, A Veterinarian By Training, Was Appointed Naturalist To The International Boundary Commission Subsequent To The Colonization Of Vancouver Island And British Columbia.
