About This Item

London 1972, Arms & Armour Pr, reprint of 1931 edition, 6x9, hard bound in dust jacket, Fine/Fine ( dj price clipped ,very light wear), condition, 207 pages, illustrated, many appendices. --------------------------------------------------- Naval Eight presents an admirably lucid history of No. 8 Squadron, Royal Naval Air Service, though out its turbulent service in World War I. The book was originally published in 1931, at a time when recollections of the war still lingered in the minds of the contributors; privately published, the intention was to provide a record of the day-to-day operations of the squadron, and how the daily responsibilities, activities, off-duty relaxations, and personalities were seen through the eyes of the personnel themselves. Valuable appendices, containing details of casualties to men and aircraft, decorations awarded to the squadron's personnel, aerodromes utilised and details of the aeroplanes themselves complete the book. It will be of interest to all students of flight's history.
