Uniformly bound in contemporary half calf, cloth boards. Spines in 6 compartments with raised banding, gilt tooling and lettering with red leather labels. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Some spotting/mottling to the cloth, with a few surface abrasions. Hinges reinforced with cloth tape. Some variable foxing and offsetting to the plates, variable and occasional spotting or browning elsewhere. Small and discreet historic stamp Monkwearmouth Subscription Library to verso of some plates, not to the maps. Published price inscribed to upper margin of the half-title of vol.I: £4-16s. A handsome set.
