New York: Bernard Geis Associates, 1963. . 213 pages. Blue endpapers. The binding is of a dark blue cloth spine with bright guilt spine lettering; the boards being covered with orange paper.There are a few very small spots (glue?) on the upper board in the upper right quadrant. Other than these spots this binding is in Fine condition, tight, bright, solid, square and extremely clean. The dust jacket is a little shelf worn with some chipping along the edges and at the corners and at the spine's head and tail. Internally very clean and sharp, appears unread. The text block upper edge is publisher-stained orange. A collection of stories gathered together by Nelson Algren by such authors as J. Heller, G.P. Elliott, Saul Bellow, Thomas Pynchon and Nelson Algren among others. Introduction by Algren and a three page Authors section providing short literary biographies of the contributing authors."This unusual collection, then, is a testimonial to the rare unique vision of some of the great writers of our day - Nelson Algren's own favorites - who by the creative act itself break through the curtain of man's isolation to participate in a common humanity" , from the dust jacket blurb.
