Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. D H Lawrence was an English novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic and painter. He endured official persecution, censorship and misrepresentation of his creative work throughout the second half of his life. Nettles is a collection of satirical poetry written by D H Lawrence in response to those who claimed to be offended by his major novel Lady Chatterly's Lover. Nettles was his final work, first published 11 days after his death and is a series of bitter, nettling attacks on the moral climate of England. Condition: In original paper wraps, with red unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Wrap is very smart with just some bumping to the extremities as expected. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Overall: FINE with a NEAR FINE dustwrapper..
