New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1929. First edition. Decorated sewn wrappers, printed label.  Black and white photographs. Wraps have a smudge on the upper panel and are fairly dusty, bookplate of noted Hogarth Press collector William Beekman to verso of upper panel, else very good. Very rare in commerce. First edition, limited to two thousand copies. "My friend David Garnett has just sent me in response to a request for a few remarks the pages that follow. His tribute to the men and women of the book trade is so charmingly put, so persuasive and just, and above all so unusual (coming from one of the younger generation who write books) that I cannot resist offering it to my (and I venture to believe his) bookseller friends in America.
