Contemporary full calf with six spine compartments between raised bands. Gilt-tooled leather labels in second and third compartments. Former owner inscriptions on front free endpaper ("Geo. Handy Jr.") and first page of table of contents ("Geo. Handy 1811, Somerset, Md."). This was probably the George Handy who was register of wills for Somerset County. Upper corner of title page removed, presumably to remove name of previous owner. A heavy book; for international shipping, it will have to be sent by priority international. In Good+ Condition: joints are cracked; lacking most gilt from spine labels; leather is rubbed, with loss at corners; occasional browning and foxing; otherwise, clean and solid.
