About This Item
New York: Broadcast Music, 1950. Called "a landmark" by Pete Seeger, Sandburg's 1927 anthology here in 1950 edition, inscribed: "Fred Hellerman/'The Weavers'/April 1951," the same year that all members of The Weavers were blacklisted from performing on radio or t.v. Sandburg, perhaps the first Americam urban folk singer, accompanied himself on solo guitar at lectures and poetry recitals and recordings, long before the first or second revival movements (1940s/1960s). Book binding of blue cloth with gilt lettering and design is soiled around all the edges, and shows wear on extremities, but is fully stable and solid. Paper cover is chipped and missing in chunks, but photo of Sandburg on front is still fully visible. Inside pages show age shadows, but are otherwise clean, bright, and tight. . Association Signed. Hard Cover. Good Minus/Poor. 12 X 9.
