Original paper boards, rebacked sloppily and unprofessionally using green cloth tape, and reinforced internally. Title hand-inked to spine. This copy is ex-library; formerly in the College of New Rochelle with bookplate and reference stickers and cards, small perforated stamp to title. Main bulk of text survives in good condition; a reading copy only, but certainly useable as such. Because of ex-lib. factors, sold as is.

Gilt ruled spine compartments with blind embossed and gilt tooled motifs. Gilt tooled raised bands. Gilt titled morocco labels. Thick, tall 4to. 9" x 11.75". First Ellis Edition - the sole modern edition. Illustrated by a fold-out copper plate engraved Frontis and a woodcut of a heraldic shield en texte. Robert Fabyan (died 1513), chronicler, was born in London, of which he became an Alderman and Sheriff. He kept a diary of notable events, which he expanded into a chronicle entitled, The Concordance of Histories. It covers the period from the arrival of Brutus in England to the death of through the reign of Elizabeth I , and deals mainly with the affairs of London.
