The cover is much worn on its body and edges. The leather corners are much worn about through to the board body. The back cover is also much worn to the board base. The leather spine is cracked and worn. It has open tears. The print is not entirely legible. Binding is admirably virile and in full body. Although the body of the book has cracks to the spine seams the book is firmly affixed with no loose pages. There are previous owner inscriptions on the frontispage. All pages are mottled, spotted and marked by age and storage. The back of the dictionary has been affected by damp storage conditions and resulted in staining to the back papers, bubbling and crispness to the texture. Ex-library copy with tape adhesive stains to top and bottom exterior of boards and to endpapers. Library pocket, stamp and notes to ffep with a few marks/small stains to page ends - otherwise clean. Jacket has chip to bottom third of spine, small adhesive stain to bottom of spine and edges of jacket, and front flap with text is cleanly removed and laid in ($4.00 price intact), though missing about 1/2 inch in height. Extremely scarce in this edition.

Extremely rare volume of poetry and essays by the early 19th century French author, poet and literary figure, Delphine de Girardin née Gay. This small (4.5 in. x 2.75 in.) volume is over 180 years old and is in excellent condition. Quarter bound in green leather and marbled paper. The spine is embossed with gilt scrollwork, title and author. The hinge is tight and the pages slightly yellowed with age, but still in fine, readable condition. Red Silk bookmark is still attached and faded only on the surface outside the book. No internal markings, bookplates or tears to pages. A remarkably preserved book for its age! There are no other similar copies of this vintage for sale on the Web!

Only 1 copy in OCLC, dated 1881. 12mo, 125pp. A book of useful phrases for conducting business and travel, geared toward the native French speaker, with the bulk of the text printed simultaneously in English on facing pages. Contains trade-specific scenarios and vocabulary. Quarter leather with marbled boards, in Near Fine condition with minor shelfwear and a hint of foxing throughout. Based on the style of binding and paper, we suspect the volume to have been custom-bound by its owner, Bousquet, whose signature appears on both the pastedown and the half-title page—else clean and unmarked. Rare volume in excellent condition.
