About This Item
Toronto: The MacMillan Company 1938. (Hardcover) 198pp. Good to very good, no dust jacket. Signed with an inscription by the editor to "Earle." Red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and gilt device to the front cover. Illustrated endpapers, frontispiece, decorations, biographical notes. The spine is faded and lightly worn, the covers are faded at the edges with minor speckling and discoloration. "This anthology is intended to present examples of the best recent work of living Canadian poets, and so to focus attention on what is alive and vital in Canadian poetry today. Useful as they are, the previous collections are either much wider or much narrower in scope, gathering in their store with the large mesh new of an historical or general literary survey, or with the fine mesh that sweeps from a smaller area the work of fewer writers". Time Period 1918-1938 & Postwar. Decorations by J.M. Donald. Locale: Canada. (Poetry--Canada, Poetry--Canada).
