London.: Annual Register.. 1763.. Copperplate engraved map 9 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches on sheet 11 x 13 3/4 inches, published folding into the Annual Register with 1/4 inch margin at upper left edge. Light watermark at lower edge of sheet (well outside the neatline), map in very good condition. Map shows the southern states (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia) extending to the Mississippi River. The Western boundary of Pennsylvania appears to be somewhat erratic and the Northern boundary extends into present-day New York state. A small inset map of East Florida, with St. Augustine indicated, promotes the map's compact composition. Numerous Native American tribes are located and identified on the map. Text at bottom of map states "Engraved for the History of the War in the Annual Register, and to be Placed at the End of the Volume for 1763." The Annual Register first appeared in 1758. An uncommon map showing the extent of the British Colonies just 13 years before the Declaration of Independence. .
