Signed by the author and John Sykes who wrote the postscript "The Big Bang Theory" to a plate on the front free endpaper, limit number 16 of 50. Pp. 363. With sixteen colour plates and over 100 black and white photographs and drawings. This is the full height, first printing of the second edition (there is also a "second state" second edition which is slightly shorter). The first edition was published in 1995 with a different Gillmor jacket. Dust jacket fine, crisp edges and no fading to the spine, now protected in a clear removable archival sleeve. Contents clean and tight, no markings, appears unread. A fine, signed, second edition copy. [referenced by Collecting the New Naturalists 82AA].
