London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, 1815. 1815 Edition. VERY GOOD. Early edition of this illustrated mythology, 1815 printed on title page. Internally very good+ in worn contemporary calf leather binding. Two previous owner names neatly penned on front pasted endpaper, a few penciled check marks, no other markings. A clean, complete copy with fold-out frontis engraving "The Mythological Tree" intact and with engraved plates of 16 gods. Pages clean with occasional light foxing, three plates moderately foxed. Cover is clean but scuffed and worn, particularly at corners and spine ends. Spine is scuffed and only 5 gilt rules remain visible. Leather is cracked along hinges but cover and hinges remain intact. Lacks front free endpaper. Binding firm, no cracks or splits. 3-1/2 x 5-1/2"; xii + 191 pp text; 8 pp index. Fourth Edition. Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo.
