Alphabetically Digested in Their Proper Order. To Which are Added and Intermixed Many Special Modern Retorns not Heretofore Made Publick. With Many Useful Notes and Observations Throughout the Whole. Necessary for all Sheriffs, Under-Sheriffs, Clerks, Attorneys, Sollicitors, Mayors, Bailiffs of Liberties, Coroners, &c. As also For the Officers of the Several Counties Palatine of Chester, Lancaster, and Durham. With a Compleat Alphabetical Table Respecting the Said Several Courts in their Order. With Additions. Contemporary calf, blind rules to boards, blind fillets along joints, raised bands to spine, blind tooling to board edges. Some minor scuffs and stains to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, joints just starting at head, corners bumped. Very light toning to text, slightly heavier in places. A nice copy with a notably fresh interior. $500. * Third and final edition, a reissue of the second edition with a cancel title page. An especially detailed compendium of writs that went through three editions, the first two in 1707 and 1728. All editions are scarce. OCLC locates 8 copies of the third edition in North American law libraries (Columbia, Indiana Supreme Court, Notre Dame, Social Law, Supreme Court of Ohio, UC-Davis, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington). The Antiquarian Book Department offers a wide range of Continental, British, and American books, manuscripts, and ephemera from the medieval era through the twentieth century. The Publications Department offers reprints of over 1,000 landmark or otherwise interesting works, many with newly commissioned introductions, and several original publications.
