Description:
1597 Poetry of Oppian Greco-Roman FISHING & Hunting Commodus Greek Plantin RAREOppian of Anazarbus, or simply Oppian, was a 2nd-century Greek poet who is only remembered for his Greek poems on fishing and hunting. Of his surviving works, his poem on fishing (De piscatu) is his most important, much in part because it was dedicated to Marcus Aurelius and Commodus.
This 1597 edition of the poems of Oppian includes two major poems - the expected poem on fishing and the other on hunting. However, it should be noted that the Oppian named as the author of the hunting poem is Oppian of Syria. According to scholars, Oppian of Syria was familiar with the hunting poem of Oppian of Anazarbus and wrote his poem as a supplement to the former.
Regardless of the authorship, this late 16th-century work is a fascinating and desirable piece on Ancient Roman leisure activities and outdoors sport. Edited and translated with commentary by Konrad Rittershausen, this printing features both Latin and Greek texts in… Read More

Description:
1695 Prince Arthur by Blackmore King Arthur FOLIO Glorious Revolution William IIISir Richard Blackmore, M.D. was a 17th-century English poet who is responsible for a 1695 epic entitled 'Prince Arthur'. This story was Blackmore's retelling of the Glorious Revolution and a celebration of the life and reign of William III. While it tells the tale of the famous King Arthur, whom William III adored, and his defense against the Saxons, it also was greatly influenced by Geoffrey of Monmouth and his 'History of Britain'.
This incredible 1695 edition is the first edition to be published with an index, something the first printing lacked. An impressive folio!

Sean Caulfield: "'Watercircle' was produced through a collaborative process between Sean Caulfield (visual artist), Case Caulfield (writer), and Sue Colberg (book designer). To initiate the work, Sean Caulfield drew thematic inspiration from the North Saskatchewan River, which is a major feature in the landscape of Treaty 6 Territory and is the historical and contemporary heart of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In reflecting on the landscape shaped by the river, Sean Caulfield created a large-format linocut that explored themes of ecological change and regeneration of the landscape and the individuals who inhabit it. Description:
1775 Paradise Lost John Milton + Paradise Regained Allegory Poetry 2v SET"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven."
― John Milton, Paradise Lost
'Paradise Lost' follows the biblical story of the Fall of Man and the temptation of Adam and Eve. Milton himself states that purpose for this book was to "Justify the ways of God to Men". It covers the characters Adam, Eve, and Satan and the roles each played in the development of religious culture and idolatry.
It was critically acclaimed and well-received by many famed personalities, including Samuel Johnson who states.
"[Paradise Lost shows] Milton's peculiar power to astonish…and he seems to have been well acquainted with his own genius, and to know what it was the Nature had bestowed upon him more bountifully than upon others: the power of displaying the vast, illuminating the splendid, enforcing the awful, darkening the gloomy, and aggravating the dreadful.

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows
) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions…
