Original self cover, 8 pages. 19th century newspaper from Hawaii that bills itself as "The Oldest Paper in The Pacific." This newspaper was printed by the missionary community in the Sandwich Islands, as the future state was then called, while the kingdom was still governed by its native Kings and Queens. Its content chronicles their progress and includes much general news of the island and its people, the South Seas and the sailors that frequented the islands and that part of the globe. There are also U.S. news items, some of them months old, and some interesting advertisements on the last pages. Complete, with large margins, uncut and untrimmed, attached at the top.
