A very clean, tight and rare copy in original brown cloth in very good condition. Very slight bumps to spine and covers. Title in gilt lettering on spine and upper boards, incl. gilt tooled hieroglyphs between a gilt border also on upper cover. Red marbled endpapers and marbled edges. (xxi), 955pp. 2 full-page maps as a double frontisp., many plates, of which plans of temples, text-figs. and ills, diagrammes, full-page coloured maps and plans, index, list of contents, and important notice on Bakshish, list of Egyptological words.
This work represents far more information to the tourist than the usual tourist-guide. Originally drawn up in 1886 in accordance to the suggestions of his [Wallis Budge's] friend Mr. J.M. Cook with vast information on ancient monumental Egypt.
