A rare 1864 printing of 'Norris's Hand-book for Locomotive Engineers and Machinists' by Septimus Norris with help from his brother William Norris who was the first to build a locomotive in America and the first engineer to attempt to surmount the Inclined Plane across the Schuylkill. Norris wrote this work as a teaching manual to all those who would be interested in the science of mechanics. He discusses:
