(9 x 6.2 inches). xciii, 372, 2 pp. Cheap war-time paper browned to the edges but overall a very good copy in publishers blue cloth with gilt ruled lines and lettering to the spine. In the rare original printed dustwrapper which has long thin areas of loss to the top of the front and rear panel and both inner hinges are split, but the wrapper is essentially complete. A scarce title in first edition, and rare in the original dustrapper. ---- A detailed study of Cinema in Britain during it's infancy, including the opinions of Children, moral guardians, and many British film makers of the day.

Spine with gilt ruled lines, floral design and lettering. Front board with ruled panels and floral designs, all in gilt Single gilt ruled border to the rear board and board edges. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Armorial bookplate of noted author of books on folklore and topography, Sir George Laurence Gomme (1853 - 1916) on the front pastedown. Some offsetting to the endpapers from the leather turn-ins. A little rubbing to the extremities and the spine faded to an attractive brown but overall still a lovely copy of this scarce work in a fine quality binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

All uniformly bound in attractive fine early leather bindings of full red straight grained morocco. Spines with four raised bands, each with gilt ruling. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Gilt decorative borders on boards, with four blind stamped ruled lines inside the panel. Turn-ins with floral gilt roll. Board edges with gilt tooling to corners. All edges gilt. Neat previous owner bookplates on front paste downs. One gathering slightly sprung in volume one. Some light spotting to a few pages in each volume, but generally a clean set. Spine of volume three is a bit faded and worn and a bit of rubbing to the extremities of the other volumes but overall a very good and beautifully bound set.

A fine copy of this expertly printed little volume in a highly attractive leather binding of beautiful full dark green morocco by Lanscelin. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments double ruled, lettered and fully decorated in gilt. Boards with triple gilt ruled borders. Stamped monogram to the front board. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Turn-ins with elaborate gilt roll. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Orange, gold and green silk book marker sewn in. A fine copy, housed in a marbled paper covered slip-case. The slip-case has seen some damage and has been repaired with sticky tape to the edges, but has done the job of keeping the book in fine condition. A marvellous piece of book production, both the text and the binding.

First issue tan cloth binding with full decorative gilt and blue lettering and decoration to the front board. Spine lettered and decorated in gilt. Text translated into English verse by Edward Fitzgerald. 10 full colour tipped-in plates, each with tissue guards, 19 smaller full colour plates, and numerous line drawings throughout. A little foxing to the first and last few pages and some light rubbing to the extremities of the binding with one small spot to the spine, but overall a bright, clean copy in near fine condition. A superior copy of one of the most beautifully illustrated Rubaiyat editions.

Illustrated with 4 full page mono plates and scores of smaller illustrations throughout the text by Ford, G. P. Jacomb-Hood and Lancelot Speed. Publishers decorated red cloth binding with gilt illustration to the front board and spine, which is also lettered in gilt. The book has been professionally re-cased and has new burgundy endpapers. All edges gilt. Neat previous owners name, dated 1890, to the front blank free endpaper. Some marks and spots to a few pages but overall this is a very good copy internally with the binding showing some wear and to the extremities, particularly the hinges. Overall a near to very good copy of the second of Lang's colour Fairy books.

No place. No date. Circa 1870. ILLUSTRATED MANUSCRIPT. Oblong 8vo. (9.4 x 5.5 inches). Longfellow's popular eearly poem, An April day, written in a neat hand on 12 thick paper leaves. Ten of the leaves are beautifully illustrated in watercolour by an unknown but very skilled artist. Bound in attractive nineteenth century full red morocco. Spine with multiple gilt ruled lines and three raised bands. Both boards have a highly decorative gilt roll and ruled lines border around a double ruled and corner decorated blind tooled panel. The front board has the title and author lettered in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles and yellow coated endpapers. All edges gilt. A little rubbing to the extremities but overall a beautiful volume in very good condition.
