Originally published in a small 27 volume Italian edition to commemorate the five-hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492, Nuova Raccolta Columbiana in the English edition is considered the definitive scholarly set. It comprises all of Columbus' journals and reports, with maps and charts for an accurate historical and geographical reconstruction of his voyages; other works by writers who were contemporaries (or shortly thereafter his death), newly edited documents with updated research and some new insights on geographical aspects of his discoveries and personal vision of events and the vicissitudes of all four voyages. The highlight of the set is the Atlas edited and translated by Osvaldo Baldacci, Lucio Bertolazzi and Luciano F. Farina.
