London: Raphael Tuck & Sons. Fair with no dust jacket. [c1906]. First Edition. Hardcover. Spine cloth torn along lower 5" of the front joint. Fraying to cloth at ends of spine. A 3" adhesive tape repair across lower end of spine. Edges of boards heavily rubbed with loss of paper along the edges and margins. Corners of boards heavily worn, rubbed, and rounded. The frontispiece illustration has a 4" tear with an adhesive sellotape repair on the reverse side. Also a 1 3/4" tear to the lower inner corner of the frontispiece, again with an old sellotape repair on the reverse side. The sellotape repairs to the frontispiece have caused adhesive tape staining to the paper of the frontispiece, and also to the neighbouring region of the front free endpaper. An early owner's inscription on the front endpaper - "To Patti with Love from Auntie May", beneath which is another recent inscription - "(a family friend) about 1924". No other inscriptions or…

England: Raphael Tuck & Sons. Fair. c. 1919. Hardcover. ; Green cloth cover with embossed pictorial is frayed at extremities and split along front hinge. Boards are straight. Binding is tight. Cover is detached (but present and all in one piece) , signatures still held together so suitable for rebinding. Lacking front and rear end sheets. Title page and verso are neatly colored. Pages are toned with heavy thumbing, two pages with tears up to 2" but in good condition. Complete text and b&w illustrations with several color (single-color) plates. .

Publisher's red cloth backed color pictorial boards. Large quarto (10 1/4 x 7 3/8 in; 262 x 190 mm). Collating 48, [1, adv.], [1 , blank]. Full-color frontispiece (Tommy on his Travels). Text on every page. Sixteen pages printed in two colors (green and black, red and black, orange and black). Neat gift inscription dated "Xmas 1923." A bit of minor rubbing to extremities, otherwise an internally crisp, clean, and Fine copy. Father Tuck's Golden Gift Series No. 817, similar to Father Tuck's Golden Gift Series No. 805 with same title yet with sufficient differences in illustration, text length (48 pages versus 72 pages) and variations, and binding to warrant them being separate editions.
