About This Item

NY: George Wittenborn, Inc, 1953. The dust wrapper described as near fine- refers to the black blind-embossed French-style wrappers with tipped-on color [tinted] front cover label over boards. The black wrappers have a little edge wear and the spine has mild creases. These wraps are protected by semi transparent glassine covers and those are only in fair to poor condition due to age discolorations, tears and wrinkles mostly to front wraps which have a light pink paste-on label [see photos] with the words Painter Paragons printed in dark pink. Illustrated with 76 B&W photogravures [héliogravures] some with more than one image which represent the range of French nude photography in the late 19th century. Most notable is the fact that while underarm hair, considered fashionable at that time, is prominently displayed while pubic hair has been eliminated in all full frontal nudity photos [via retouching?] Textblock pages [81 including index of plates and brief bibliography] clean, unmarked, sewn binding sound; some discoloration from black wrappers at feps. Text in French [eight pages by Marces Bovis and two by François Saint-Julien]. One page in English laid in with the title "Painters Paragons or the Imaginary Harem": [an] English resume by Willa Percival, first published in the magazine "Infinity" New York. PO's last name at endpaper. Media Mail, Priority & most international shipping include free tracking information. Every book listed is located in my smoke free and climate controlled shop. All are inspected by me and will have qualities and/or flaws described. . Not Stated Appears to be First Edition. Soft Cover. Near Fine-/Near Fine-. About Inga's Original Choices

VITA SINE LIBRIS MORS EST! Hello to all bibliophiles and bibliomaniacs from a bibliopole with a bibliotheca where an abundance of quality tries to make up for lack of quantity - if compared with that of Amazon :)!
Literature is an art and that is why I have incorporated a bookstore into my main business, custom framing. While I thoroughly enjoy this business, my first love always was and always will be books.
Some recent feedback:
1. "You are the champion of perfect book-mailers! How wonderfully you protected the book by bubble wrap and you reinforced the envelope so well with tape. The book is in pristine condition. Thank you so much for doing such a beautiful job".
2." Just received my copy of "Brighty of the Grand Canyon". Just as described (perfect really) and your processing time is totally amazing. Thank you for such a wonderful job. I am impressed and will gladly do business with you again as need and money allow".
3." Just a note to say the book arrived several days ago, which is really quick.
My customer is delighted with it". 4. I recently purchase a first edition book from you (Herbs and Apples), and I just want to thank you for your prompt service, careful packaging and reasonable price. Also, your description of the book was detailed and accurate, so the book is as I expected.
Thank you for visiting my virtual store. If you're in the neighborhood - You All Come - as they say around here!
Inga
