Limited edition of 176 copies in total, this copy being one of 51 copies printed on luxury Japan paper and issued with an ADDITIONAL SUITE of the illustrations ( 16 full-page plates with 'remarques' and a further plate with 3 in-text proofs ). Also included with this copy is a separate sleeve containing 4 further unpublished plates. Unbound, as issued, in printed wraps, marbled card and quarter green morocco sleeve, and matching slipcase. The raised bands, head an base of the spine are rubbed, as are the extremities of the slipcase. Internally in perfect condition, the illustrations protected by more recent loose paper guards. A very nice copy indeed. ** Edition créée 'sous la direction artistique d'Edouard Chimot, orné de 20 eaux-fortes originales gravées par Tigrane Polat (dont 10 hors-texte). D'un tirage total de 176 exemplaires le notre porte le numéro 50, étant l'un des trente exemplaires sur Japon impérial contenant les eaux-fortes en deux états, la suite comprenant 16 planches avec remarques et 1 planche avec trois dessins préliminaires. Il y a aussi 4 planches refusées, sous papier cristal. En feuilles sous couverture imprimée rempliée, chemise cartonnée avec dos en cuir vert et étui, papier marbré. Le dos de la chemise un peu frottée, les bords de l'étui également. Intérieur en excellent état. Bel ensemble.
