HARDCOVER, bound in handsome patterned boards, spine with red morocco label, lettered and decorated in gilt, blank paper label to upper cover. In fine condition. ~ Second French edition. Translated by H. G. Riquetti, comte de Mirabeau, sometime attributed to E. Rumare (Cf. British Library). John Baker Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield (1735-1821), English politician. Having served in the Army, he entered the House of Commons in 1780. In 1803 he was appointed President of the Board of Agriculture. He was a great authority on farming and a leading economic authority of his time. In 1792, "A brief examination of Lord Sheffield's observations on the commerce of the United States", by Tench Coxe, was published as a reaction to Holroyd's book. B-1
