No. 20 of the first 36 copies of this limited edition, which has an overall print-run of 255 copies. With 21 superb full-page engraved illustrations by Albert DECARIS in the main volume, and in the second volume a supplementary issue of 2 copies each of the same plates, together with a special printing of the engravings with 'remarques', making a total of 84 plates in all. The wood engravings, in Decaris' inimitable style, are mainly representations of unclothed females in a variety of rural and group settings! The work is enhanced with many fine illuminated capitals, these also reproduced as part of the supplementary 'suites' in volume 2 - totalling a further 17 individual plates. (The original copper plate and wood engraving called for in the colophon are not present.). Presented in 2 quarter brown morocco patterned card folders and matching slipcases. Tirage de tête - no. 20 - avec, dans le second étui, 4 suites complètes des hors-texte (l'une avec remarques), soit 84 planches en tout, et 3 suites des très belles lettrines. Il manque par contre le cuivre, dessin et bois individiuels demandés dans la justification de tirage. En feuilles, sous double emboîtage, les chemises cartonnées avec dos en cuir (conforme au tirage de tête) et beau dessin doré sur chaque tome. De légers frottements aux dos, mais très bel exemplaire de ce chef d'oeuvre.
