In January, 1968, two Japanese companies, Matsushita Electric Industrial Company and The Mainichi Newspapers, agreed to undertake a joint time capsule project in celebration of the Japan World Exposition 1970: EXPO'70. This book provides a Record of the realisation of the project: three years of planning, research and construction culminating in the burial of two capsules, one above the other, in 1971. The lower capsule will remain buried for 5,000 years. The upper capsule, (having identical contents) will be oopened for the first time in 2000 AD and every 100 years thereafter. Grey cloth with black titling on spine and front, grey end papers, black and white frontispiece, illustrated with black and white diagrams and photographs, as well as a few colour photographs, 272 pages. This is an ex-library book (Royal British Columbia Museum) and has the usual library stamps and stickers but no pocket. Dust jacket has light edge wear, primarily to spine ends, and light shelf wear. The book is in an off-white cardboard slip case with black titling on grey label on front and spine. Case has light wear to corners and edges.
