First English edition. One of 500 numbered copies (a German edition of 350 copies and an Italian edition of 200 copies was also issued). Folio (11 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches). 79, [1], [2, colophon] pp. Complete with twelve Masereel woodcuts elucidating the printing process, twelve illustrations and tipped in specimens, two pages of Officina Bodoni printer's marks printed in red black and blue and a five page list of Officina Bodoni book printed in the first six years of its existence.
Publishers cream linen with gilt spine lettering and a gilt printer's device on the front board. Original printed dust jacket with a small sticker removal to front cover and small tape reinforcement to the inside of jacket at bottom of spine. Previous owner's signature on front paste down. The usual offsetting from the jacket flaps, otherwise a fine copy.
