About This Item

(New York): Beginner Books / Random House, 1975. Near fine.. Elusive first edition, first printing of the classic picture book praising feats of imagination, with a title Seuss would riff upon in his last published book - its natural companion OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO. Dr. Seuss leads by example in encouraging children to think bigger, push boundaries, and do it joyfully all the while in this inspirational picture book. Seuss creates exuberant technologies, like a big balloon swimming pool, next to fantastical realms with unusual creatures - each pushing the reader to think in a new and unexpected way. A scarce title in the Seuss oeuvre, this copy is in beautiful condition. 9'' x 6.5''. Original glazed color pictorial boards. No dust jacket as issued. Purple pictorial endpapers. [40] pages. Some areas of finger soil to text, light bumping to spine ends.

Synopsis

Theodor Seuss Geisel—aka Dr. Seuss—is, quite simply, one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. The forty-four books he wrote and illustrated under the name Dr. Seuss (and others that he wrote but did not illustrate, including some under the pseudonyms Theo. LeSieg and Rosetta Stone) have been translated into thirty languages. Hundreds of millions of copies have found their way into homes and hearts around the world. Dr. Seuss’s long list of awards includes Caldecott Honors for McElligot’s Pool, If I Ran the Zoo, and Bartholomew and the Oobleck; the Pulitzer Prize; and eight honorary doctorates. Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys, and a Peabody. From the Hardcover edition.
