London: Gollancz, 1975. Hardcover. Reissue, struck from the plates of 1956, hardbound in common Gollancz format, papered red boards and yellow dust jacket. Rims of the casebinding are a little crimped at head and tail, lower edge of boards bear a couple tiny dents, top edge of textblock touched with foxing. The dj has an inchlong tear at the front flap joint and crease-lines from that tear along top of front panel over to cover joint. Actually, a presentable copy, but let's say for collecting purposes "good-only" Pace dj encomium, we do not recall this title being one of the "famous" ones (ourselves having read the bulk of Innes' output); it was written in a middle period when the weird detections of 1936-1951 were fading in energy and his conventional Stewart novels began to be clever. Inneses continued to be written and automatically published well into the 80s, eggs from an industrialized hen-house. His fabulous Journeying Boy ("The Case of the.." in America) redeemeth, as does the Stewartian "Quintet
