Map of Louisiana by Spratling on both sets of pink endpapers. Black cloth hardcover with gold impressing on spine and pink label on front board. Pink dustjacket with black type and drawing. Dustjacket is much chipped, especially at top. Dampness stains bottom corners of text block. An impressionistic view of Louisiana's domestic architecture with an index of the houses discussed in the text. The preface is by Nathaniel Cortland Curtis, Dean of the Tulane School of Architecture. Spratling was a silversmith and artist best known for his influence on 20th-century Mexican silver design. Scott was an author, playwright, actress, newspaperwoman and columnist in New Orleans.
