N.Y: Charles Scribners Sons. Very Good/Good. 1952. Hard Cover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall 1952 edition. Dustjacket has light blue/grey tint photo of Hemingway on back. Price clipped on inside. Jacket design by "A" Inside of jacket has the words printed Pulitzer Prize 1953 and Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature 1954. The jacket is bright with one small white rub near the spine. Mild, normal shelf wear to edges. Gift inscription to former owner reads " Best wishes for many Happy Birthdays: Love, Ruth, Arnold & Steve. Blue boards with silver lettering on spine. Text is clean and bright. .


Book summary

The Old Man and the Sea is a novella by Ernest Hemingway, written in Cuba in 1951 and published in 1952. It was the last major work of fiction to be produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime. One of his most famous works, it centers upon Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream.
