London: Bradbury and Evans. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. Five original bound volumes, in 3/4 brown leather with marbled boards, plain brown endpapers, red chalk edges. A vg set (spine ends, corners and edges worn; marbled paper rubbed; red edges are rubbed in a few places, esp. bottom edge of v1; tear to top third of v5's front joint). This magazine was conceived as a rival to Dickens' 'All the Year Round', and featured many writers and artists of importance. Poets include Tennyson, Swinburne and Christina Rossetti; artists include H.K. Browne, John Leech, John Tenniel, Charles Keene, and John Millais.
