Portland, OR: Nazraeli Press, 19982016. First printing. 5.75 x 7.25 inches. Printed paper over boards, illustrated with digital and offset reproductions and original photographic prints.

The set overall is in virtually as-new condition: ninety-five of the books are pristine, four have very minor sunning along the spine or edge of the bright pastel-colored covers but are internally fine, and in one (#34, E. Mars & Joseph Mills) the original image has lightly marked the facing page, but it too is otherwise very fine.

A complete set of Nazraelis award-winning and innovative One Picture Book series, simultaneously a Who's Who of contemporary photography and a wide-ranging survey of strategies, techniques, genres, and design approaches, all in an attractive, compact format.

Each of the one hundred hardbound volumes presents a single project or body of work, explored through offset and digital images (and sometimes texts), culminating in a tipped-in original photographic print. The original photographs include color and black-and-white gelatin silver prints, C prints, and other printing methods; some are further embellished by hand.

Each volume was published in an edition of five hundred signed and numbered copies (signatures appearing either on the print itself, or the colophon of the book). Photographic styles range from documentary to abstract to conceptual, with almost every genre represented (portraits, landscapes, street photos, staged and constructed tableaus, nature, structuralist and conceptual works, archival and found images, collage, monochrome, and so on) an idiosyncratic encyclopedia of current practice. (Several are also homages to or portraits of earlier practitioners: Robert Frank, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Bill Brandt, Jerry Uelsmann, Carl Chiarenza, etc.)

Series One began in 1998 and concluded in 2016; more than forty of the volumes are now out of print (some of them demanding very high prices in the secondary market), making the piecemeal assembly of a complete set both arduous and expensive. Detailed descriptions, with images, of all the individual volumes can still be seen on the publishers website. This complete set can be yours for roughly the current price of the fifty-seven still-available volumes!

The photographers in the series, in alphabetical order (fifteen of the photographers appear more than once Todd Hido and Michael Kenna, for example, each contributed four volumes to the series):
