The text of Horace in Latin, with notes by F. Dübner, is preceded by a "Vie d'Horace" in French by Noël des Vergers. According to the preface by Ambroise Firmin-Didot, there are two different issues of this edition, one illustrated with engravings and the other with photographs. There are also examples which mix the two types of illustrations. This copy is illustrated with 11 engraved chapter headings drawn by Félix Joseph Barrias and engraved by Etienne Huyot. A frontispiece, called for in some OCLC records, is not present here.
