About This Item
Boston: John H. Eastburn, 1832. Very Good. Boston: John H. Eastburn, 1832. First Edition. Octavo. Removed. 21 pages. Upper edge of title page a bit soiled. Evident ex-library copy with "Dup discard" in pencil on title and call number to rear.
Quincy lectures on the American Revolution as the result of historical circumstances rather than British tyranny. Of the annual tributes offered to the Revolution, Quincy says, "They have reaped and gleaned, but the soil is not exhausted; and he, who, on this day, seeks in the history of the past, for the spirit which should actuate the present, will find the field again white to the harvest." A former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and Mayor of Boston, Quincy was President of Harvard University when he gave this speech.
