The first edition of this work.In the original publisher"s unclipped dustwrapper."The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold" is a largely autobiographical novel, based off the author"s period of hallucinations caused by bromide intoxication.Evelyn Waugh was a noted English author of the twentieth century, best known for his novel "Brideshead Revisited" and "A Handful of Dust".Prior owner"s ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. In the original publisher"s cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine, with a very small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Prior owner"s ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper with spots, and a tidemark to the tail of the wrap, heavier to the reverse. Very minor edge wear to the dustwrapper. Fine
