Edge gilt tooling, inner edge blind tooling. Marbled endpapers. Marbled edges. A little spotting to free endpapers, a little shelf wear, otherwise a crisp and bright handsome copy. No inscriptions.
Kingswood School, founded by John Wesley lies in the Lansdown estate of William Beckford, at Fonthill.
The sixth edition was the last edition published during Darwin's lifetime, and the first edition in which he used the word "evolution".
