This is an original, 1911 printing of this important book "the universally quoted authority" about Ships and Maritime history of the Northwestern Lakes (The Great Lakes) back in 1911. This is a hardcover book with 272 pages including many photos, charts, shipping related advertisements, and illustrations. There are listings of the various ships in many different categories (Lumber, Transportation, Steam, Barges, Canadian, etc.. and also many articles about shipping men and history. The book has red cloth covers with bright gold designs. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. The pages show some very light soiling but no tears or writing. The title page shows 1911 as the published date. The covers show moderate soiling and some edgewear. Overall, the pages are Excellent and the covers show some general signs of age .
