Boston: Atlantic Little, Brown. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1947. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. SIGNED by Ciardi and warmly inscribed "for Jetta and Gene (sic) with fondest and best wishes." "Jetta" is Jetta Carleton, author of "The Moonflower Vine," a huge bestseller in 1962, and the author's only novel, which enjoyed a revival in 2005, when author Jane Smiley included the book on her reading list of 100 novels. "Gene" was Jene Lyon, Ms. Carleton's husband of 50 years. Dust jacket is moderately age toned. An uncommon signature and a most interesting literary association. .
