Truman Capote

Published by Random House (1948)

Book Condition: Very Good/Dust Jacket Very Good+

*SIGNED on title page*

1st Edition/1st Printing

Book has some minor flaws but overall an excellent and very rare addition for that special library.

1] Some minor edge chipping to dust jacket but no major DJ flaws

2] Lite spotting to top block

3] Lite damp stain apparent to lower portion of book board, rear paste down and rear blank page

4] Some darkening to front paste down and first blank page from insertion of newspaper clipping of the Capote signing

Please check all of our pictures. Dust jacket now enclosed in new clear Mylar protector

But all in all an extremely nice copy of this rare signed and relatively fragile 67 year old book.

Absolutely no odor !

Rarity of book is increased because I don't believe Capote signed his books on the title page very often ?

Board corners are all nice sharp and undamaged..

Capote's first book with his controversial, extravagant pose for the rear dust jacket..

Truman Capote was a happening, a cultural event, a whirlwind seldom seen to appear on the American landscape..

Great piece of history and Americana here..

Description:
1911 1st ed Wagner Ring Niblung Siegfried Rackham NORSE Mythology ART Tolkien

"Joy is not in things; it is in us"
― Richard Wagner

Richard Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" (or "The Ring of the Niblung, WWV 86) was a landmark work in the history of music. It was a collection of four large-scale operas that created a 'cycle' of works which would in-turn be called the "Ring Cycle". The story loosely follows characters of Norse mythology and was a major influence in J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

This fine printing was illustrated by the famous Arthur Rackham. This volume contains the final two movements of the work – "Siegfried" and "The Twilight of the Gods" translated by Margaret Armour. The color illustrations are classic Rackham style and feature trolls, beasts, magic spells, and more in a very dark and sinister fantasy style. In fact, these illustrations are often collected, printed, and sold as a collection of prints without the text!

Description:
A Fine tight copy in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. Inscribed "To Chuck, Alan Shepard" on titlepage. On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, and the space race was born. Desperate to beat the Russians into space, NASA put together a crew of the nation's most daring test pilots: the seven men who were to lead America to the moon. The first into space was Alan Shepard; the last was Deke Slayton, whose irregular heartbeat kept him grounded until 1975. They spent the 1960s at the forefront of NASA's effort to conquer space, and Moon Shot is their inside account of what many call the twentieth century's greatest feat—landing humans on another world. Collaborating with NBC's veteran space reporter Jay Barbree, Shepard and Slayton narrate in gripping detail the story of America's space exploration from the time of Shepard's first flight until he and eleven others had walked on the moon.
