Philadelphia: Ketterlinus, 1918. Original Poster. Color lithograph. 30 x 20 inches. This poster features a young 'doughboy' advancing out of his trench, clutching a billowing American flag. His pale face and the bright colors of the flag stand out prominently against the dark background. Sidney H. Riesenberg (1885-1971) was an illustrator from Chicago who lived in Yonkers, NY. He was one of be best know illustrators of the WW1 era, creating numerous posters for the war effort, including those for the Marines and the US Navy. This poster, for the Third Liberty Loan, is his most celebrated work. A small tear at bottom, left and top margins but otherwise in very good condition.
