London: Printed for Bernard Lintott, 1708. First Edition. Hardcover. [16], 400pp. Pages 39, 48 and 336 are misnumbered (respectively 36, 84 and 363). Modern brown mottled calf over mottled boards. Engraved frontispiece by Michael Van der Gucht, head-pieces and initials. Contributions by Elijah Fenton, Sir John Denham, Lord Halifax, Lord Orrery, John Dryden, Thomas Otway and many others. Includes An Extempore upon a Faggot, here attributed probably erroneously to Milton. Previous owner's name on the flyleaf, old stain to upper edge of the first few leaves, two old mends to two of the leaves. Text block is mostly clean with light toning. A bright, very good+ copy. ; Octavo.
