London: Smith, Elder, and Co, 1844. Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo. Reprinted from the "Cornwall Royal Gazette," at the Desire of the Fallmouth Harbour Committee. Rebound library buckram, with orig. front wrapper bound in. 32pp. Illustrated with two folding charts. SIGNED to "George Smith Esq, with the Author's Compliments on ff/ endpaper. With Smith's (d. 1921) bookplate and label on front inner wrapper. Smith was a Knight of Treliske, Cornwall. Light offsetting to title page from map, front wrappers somewhat soiled, light rubbing to spine but o/w near fine. Edwaard Osler [1798-1863] was called to Truro in Cornwall as editor of the 'Royal Cornwall Gazette.' Several special articles contributed by him to its columns, such as 'Packet Question: Falmouth or Southampton', were reissued in seperate form (Dictionary of National Biography). Base and Courtney: A Catalogue of the Writings, Both Manuscript and Printed of Cornishmen, and of the Works Relating to County of Cornwall, Vol. I, 417.
