Fourth edition as stated on title page, and first illustrated and folio edition (original poem was published in 1667). Very good, rebound with leather spine with gilt-stamped title and author's name. Marbled boards with edgewear and some rubbing . Pages in good condition with light soiling and water stains, minor bookworm holes throughout. Previous author's name on title page. Note from previous owner tipped in before front free endpaper; annotations from previous owner written on front pastedown. "The only major English literary work with important engraved illustrations in the seventeenth century" (Edward Hodnett, 1978). Housed in custom-made collector's fabric slipcase.
