With Eighty-One Wood-Engraved Ornithological Plates, Printed in Colors and Beautifully Finished by Hand GREENE, W.T. Parrots in Captivity. With notes on several species by the Hon. and Rev. F.G. Dutton. Illustrated with coloured plates. London: George Bell and Sons, 1884-1887. First edition. Three large octavo volumes. x, 144 [i.e., 146, with two additional pages numbered 50* and 50**], [2, blank]; xiv, 114, [2, blank], viii, 144, [2, blank]pp. With eighty-one wood-engraved plates (twenty-seven in each volume, including frontispieces) by Benjamin Fawcett after A.F. Lydon, printed in colors and beautifully finished by hand. Publisherís second issue binding of original dark teal cloth dated 1892 at foot of spines. Front covers stamped with central gilt parrot vignette. Teal coated endpapers. Spines lettered in gilt. Spines with very light rubbing to extremities, corners a little rubbbed. Overall, a fine copy with all the plates extremely clean and bright. ìA treatise on 81 species of parrots, parrakeets, lories, and cockatoos, &c., with accounts of their habits in life and in captivity, with supplementary remarks on many of the forms credited to F.G. Dutton. The first two volumes were issued in 18 parts of which the first six appeared in 1883, the remainder in 1884. Volume III appeared entire in 1887.
