She published St. Clair, or the Heiress of Desmond in 1804 and then The Wild Irish Girl in 1806, which brought her some notoriety. Bound still sturdily in dark green cloth, moderately worn, tips bruised but unbroken, and scuffed at spine head and foot, sunning to light brown of spine, blind-stamped designs to both front and rear panels. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1859. Sydney, Lady Morgan (1781-1859) an extremely popular novelist whose work was greatly admired by many of the literary lights of the day. She was an ardent Irish nationalist, and her scenes of Irish life are well-drawn and sympathetic. Probably her best work is "The Wild Irish Girl" (1806). This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition. Brown publisher's cloth binding, ruled and embossed; gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 382 pages, with two pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Bumped corners, with just a touch of fray; foxed throughout, but a sound copy. An uncommon title, and surprisingly so considering her fame. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
